5 Reasons to Run This Holiday Season

Posted On: Jun 8, 2021 | Posted By: sbrwp    0  0

The holidays are coming up and for a runner that could be such a wonderful time of year! You might be thinking yeah right, running during the holidays is difficult. All I want to do is eat cookies, drink cocoa and cozy up on the couch – I’m not running in 26 degrees!

I am here to tell you that it can be great. You just need to believe! See below for 5 reasons why running during the holidays will make your holidays even more happy and bright.

1. Holiday 5Ks and Fun Runs

This is your chance to join a relaxing race and run for fun! Grab the dog, the kids, your friends and your family for a fun community led run. Chances are you will all have fun doing something active together, and possibly help give back to the community with your time and donations. A Win-Win for everyone!

2. Lights, lights and more lights

Going for a run in the daylight can be comfortable, warmer temps and a lot of sights and activities to take in. However, switching up your runs during the holidays to catch a glimpse of the holiday lights and Christmas cheer can really be an awesome sight to see. Running through your neighborhood at night can provide you with a different view, seeing all your neighbors’ lights, decorations and trees in the windows. It can feel magical at any mile!

3. Ease through the holidays stress-free

Everyone knows the holidays have a layer of added stress. Whether its because of the shorter work days, extended time with family, or added costs with gifts and charities, stress can find itself more present this time of year. Keeping consistent with your runs will ensure to keep your stress levels in check and your holiday more joyful.

4. Calories don’t count during the holidays

Oh but they do. Keep your calories accounted for by keeping up with a consistent running and workout regimen. It will make those cookies and milk taste just that much sweeter!

5. Avoid after the holiday regrets!

If you took off from running and working out from Thanksgiving all the way through the new year, you would be behind by over a month! Keep up with your training schedule to ensure you do not have to put in the extra time and effort to make up for lost time after the holidays.

Keep these 5 things in mind during the holidays, and you will be sure glad you did!
