Commitment
Marathon day is a culmination of your hard training, effort and commitment. When race day comes you will look back and reflect on those early morning runs, those late weeknight runs, those weekend night sacrifices when you went to bed early instead of going out with your friends, or when you had to make time for your children while still fitting in your training, you will say IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! It’s called a commitment! That’s what you pledged to SBRC and more importantly to yourself! I realize some of you may be nervous or unsure of yourself. This is where “KNOW YOUR WHY” becomes important!
Know Your Why?
Know your why? Is a marathon on your bucket list? Is it because you want to lose weight? Is it for health reasons? Is it because you have something to prove to yourself or someone else? Is it to make your mother, father or children proud? Is it to benefit a charity? We each have our own reasons to run a marathon, and each one is equally important. Knowing your “WHY” will lift you up during your challenging moments and time of need.
Whatever the reason, CHERISH THE JOURNEY and the friends that you made during your training! You may have started out a single lone runner, but you are now a member of our SBRC family. Do not underestimate the power of our family for it will propel you to the finish line come marathon day. Trust me, I know from experience!
Do you remember when a 6 or 10 mile run was hard? Or a 20 mile run was inconceivable? Every one of you has a strong running base and are 110% prepared for this weekend. DO NOT DOUBT your ability and what you are capable of accomplishing. BELIEVE in yourself! Whether you finish in 3:15:00 or 6:00:00, you will FINISH and call yourself a MARATHONER! One of the ELITE 1% of the world’s population who can claim this exclusive title! BE PROUD, and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF as much as your coaches DO!
Now put on your game face and GODSPEED!
